
Sybrina Atwaters, Ph.D.
Sybrina Atwaters is the executive director of the Office of Student Achievement (OSA), advancing transfer, second-year, and continuing student success for over 9,000 undergraduates. She oversees a multi-million-dollar portfolio, leads cutting-edge analytics and research, and designs innovative programs that elevate student achievement, strengthen institutional capacity, and shape talent development.
Sybrina is a three-time graduate from Georgia Tech, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and master’s and doctoral degrees in sociology of technology and science. She also earned master’s degrees in theological studies from Emory University and in instructional technology Georgia State University.
Sybrina is an interdisciplinary sociologist and engineer. Her research has been published by Spring International and John Hopkins University Press. She served on the RF wireless design team for AT&T wireless (formerly Bellsouth Mobility) during the 1996 Olympic games. She designed cellular infrastructure in downtown Atlanta and across the Florida Pan Handle, and she has taught at Emory University, Morehouse College, and Georgia Tech.
