Students chat at Pre-Health Advising Fall Kick-Off Event

On August 19, Pre-Health Advising, a program within Academic Success & Advising (ASA), hosted an engaging kick-off event to welcome new and returning students. More than 200 students interested in the pre-health track attended to learn about how to get involved with the pre-health community at Georgia Tech, connect with pre-health student organizations, and explore the many opportunities available to them.

The event began with an informative panel discussion moderated by Seth Kinoshita, a biochemistry major, and featured four current students, each from different pre-health tracks. The panel covered a range of topics, including how to seek out research and shadowing opportunities, advice for real-world situations, and making the most of Pre-Health Advising resources.

“This year was a huge success!” Kinoshita said. “The panelists spoke with so much passion about their experiences, and their honesty really resonated with everyone in the room. The pre-health organizations at the tables also played a big role in showing just how many different paths a pre-health journey can take.”

Following the panel, students participated in a resource fair where they connected with representatives from 19 pre-health student organizations and were entered into a raffle to win Georgia Tech swag.

Francisco Castelan, assistant director for Pre-Health Advising, shared that, “Pre-Health Advising’s goal for this event is to create a welcoming start to the fall semester for all pre-health students and foster a supportive community for all pre-health students and organizations.”

Pre-Health Advising offers a wide range of resources to support students and alumni pursuing careers in health professions. Current undergraduate and graduate students and alumni can learn more by visiting their website.
